A plea claiming that ‘red ant chutney’ will prevent the COVID-19 infection got rejected by the apex court on Thursday
A person Er. Nayadhar Padhial had approached the High court , who is working as Assistant Engineer, Takatpur , R&B Section, Baripada, District Mayurbhanj and belongs to the Bathudi Tribal Adibasi community, claim that the red ant chutney which is prepared by using red ants and green chillies is a medicinal chemistry that boosts the immune system which led to help in preventing the infection of COVID-19 virus.
To which council of scientific research & industrial research, after listing to such claim represent that currently they does not have the adequate expertise in the field of entomophagy therefore cannot comment on this issue. Central council of research in Ayurveda science said that Such chutney or soup is “out of the preview of Ayurveda drugs as per regulatory provision of Drug and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and rules, 1945.
To this research and analysis the High Court said that the use of ‘red ant chutney’ for the purpose of immunity was practiced in the tribe and was based on there traditional knowledge and experiences which court is hardly have any knowledge to comment upon.
